Avaliation of the Therapeutic Organization Saddle -Selote - in equine therapy practitioners
Abstract
Hippotherapy distinguishes itself from other techniques for individuals with Cerebral Palsy The Sela de Organização Terapêutica – Selote (Therapeutic Organization Saddle) is a technological invention in hippotherapy that contributes to the development of therapeutic strategies. Objective: To analyze the effects of the Selote’s application on electromyographic activity in hippotherapy practitioners with Cerebral Palsy. Methods: Six practitioners with cerebral palsy were assessed by electromyography, in one single session, with a 24 hour interval. The distribution of the data presented as non-parametric, so the Kruskal - Wallis test with Tukey's post-test was used. The level of statistical significance was set at p ≤ 0.05. Results: The peak on activation registered was at 10 minutes with Selote (Knight's Stance) and the lowest was at starting seat with Selote, when comparing 20 minutes without Selote with 10 minutes with Selote (p<0,001), it was observed that, with the Selote application, the biggest change in the electrical activity of practitioners with Cerebral Palsy was recorded. Conclusion: It can be concluded with this study, by means of electromyography, that Selote promotes changes in the muscular electrical activation of practitioners with Cerebral Palsy.
